Here is a discussion with Denis Robitaille, President of Conceptions Rachel-Julien.
He talks to us about his great passion: Montreal.
1. The first time, Denis?
At the age of 21, I purchased my first property.
2. Why?
If we want to have an independent lifestyle, it is better to create one’s independence. I was precocious...
3. Your first real estate project?
In 1984, but the first condo projects came about in 1991: two thousand units since then, all in Montreal.
4. Why only in Montreal?
I like to ride my bicycle to work. I like to go to the market on foot. I am urban; I live Montreal. I am never there alone.
5. What do you bring to Montreal?
I preserve its structure, its architecture. I create new ones; I try to create environments favourable to urban living.
6. And what do you bring to your clients?
I bring them financial independence and quality of life… They never regret it!
7. Rachel-Julien?
It is the name of a project: The renovation of a centenary building at the corner of Rachel and Henri-Julien Streets and its conversion into 62 condo units. We received three awards of excellence for this project, so we kept the name. Conceptions Rachel-Julien manages all the projects.
8. Your involvement?
I find the sites; I bring ideas; I find the specialists, in short, I lead the projects. There is no shortage of ideas and most of the time, I give my all to the projects.
9. Your challenges?
Each project is a challenge. Transforming a church into condos such as Place Delacroix, or creating a modern structure adapted to its environment such as N.O.V.O., the challenge remains to create a living environment at an attainable price.
10. The next one?
It is called “Quartier 54”: 335 condo units integrated with four businesses. Come and see...
